Kao Corporation was founded in 1887, Kao was formerly known as the Western grocery store "Nagase Storehouse" (Kao Sekken), mainly selling makeup soap produced in the United States and Japanese domestic soap and imported stationery. Kao products involve more than 600 kinds of cosmetics, mostly polymer chemicals.
